The European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) is seeking to recruit a Communication Officer (six month maternity leave cover).

The ETUI is a leading applied research institute for the European labour movement. We use our expertise in research, training and workplace issues to advance workers’ interests. To temporarily reinforce our Communication and Publications (ComPub) team, we are looking for a part-time (80%) Communication Officer (m/f/d) with strong digital communication skills. This is a fixed-term contract of six months to cover a maternity leave.
Main Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include: developing and implementing digital communication strategies, creating engaging content, and fostering online engagement.

Promoting all ETUI deliverables (publications, events, education activities) online through social media and the relevant ETUI websites, and reporting on impact to the Head of ComPub (analytics).

Creating content for social media to promote ETUI output and activities (LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook).

Contributing to the dissemination strategy of ETUI research (key messages, target audiences, etc.).

Supporting events through the coordination of publication dissemination and promotion on social media.

Organising and overseeing targeted dissemination of ETUI publications (targeted sending to events, authors, contributors, reviewers and key audiences).

General team support (website upkeep, proofreading, etc.).

Sending out news briefs via the newsletter and analysing their impact.

Supporting study visits and their coordination at the Institute.
Skills Required

Excellent editorial and writing skills.

Native English speaker or proven similar fluency; good command of French is a strong asset.

Experience of content creation for social media.

Experience of design programmes (Canva or similar) and video and audio-editing software (Capcut or similar) is a strong asset.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple deadlines.

Good knowledge of trade unions, EU-related media, think tanks, CSOs (civil society organisations).

Positive minded, excellent team spirit.
Profile

At least three years of work experience in communications, especially in digital communications and social media.

Interest in and knowledge of European trade unions and European institutions, as well as an ability to work on a diversity of output and activities in the fields of research and training.
The ETUI proposes a competitive salary package. Regular presence in the office in Brussels is required.
