The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) is looking for a highly motivated Communications and Event Management Trainee to join its team in Brussels.

Job Summary

The CPMR is looking for a dynamic and creative Communications and Event Management Intern to join its team. In this role, you will support the CPMR Secretariat in various communication activities, helping to create impactful messaging and ensuring the successful organisation and execution of events and meetings in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.

JOB TITLE: Communications and Event Management Trainee

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Communications and Event Management Trainee will assist the CPMR General Secretariat in organising events. She/He will support communications activities, performing tasks aimed at communicating the messages of the CPMR and its Geographical Commissions.

EMPLOYEE’S POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION: Reports to the Event & Marketing Officer

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Internship: Professional Immersion Agreement (CIP)

DURATION: 4–6 months (May to end of October 2025 maximum)

LOCATION: Brussels

Job Description | Your responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Events and Marketing Officer, you will contribute to the internal and external communications of the CPMR:

Events & Conferences:

  • Searching for venues for CPMR conferences

  • Liaising with CPMR members based in Brussels for internal events

  • Liaising with venues suppliers, caterers, interpreters, security and other various stakeholders.

  • Coordination of food & beverage, audio/visual, equipment needs, logistics onsite

  • Create and send invitations + follow-up listing of participation

  • Booking of transportation, hotel(s)

  • Administrative duties as assigned by the line-manager.

Communications:

  • Contributing to the communication activities and needs of European Projects

  • Providing communications support to CPMR events (face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats)

  • Creation of new types of online content including: infographics and video contents

  • Supporting the CPMR’s social media channels: providing an analysis of data

  • Support for updating and managing the CRM contact database and events calendar

  • Monitoring EU press information and delivering press review at least twice a week.

  • Monitoring and gathering press articles when CPMR is mentioned

Qualifications and Skills Required | Are you the person we are looking for?

Essential work experience and educational background:

  • A relevant degree in events, communication or marketing management.

  • A very high level of proficiency or native level of fluency in English is an essential prerequisite;

  • Strong written communication skills;

  • Knowledge of the functioning of the EU institutions.

  • A strong team spirit and a genuine passion for event organisation are essential for this position

Advantageous and desirable experience:

  • At least one year’s experience of communications related to EU affairs;

  • Experience of social media (Facebook, LinkedIn);

  • Knowledge and/or experience of local and regional government and membership based entities.

  • Proficiency in at least another European language (particularly French) is a strong asset.
