EPD is looking for a Communications and Events Coordinator to join our team for a 6-month contract (replacement for a maternity leave). The Communication and Events Coordinator will be based in Brussels and will report directly to the EPD Executive Director. The Communications and Events Coordinator will coordinate the work of the Communications and Events team and will work in close cooperation with the WYDE team and with EPD members and partners.
For this position, EPD is looking for someone Communications & Events Coordinator to lead the work of our Communications team in August 2025 as a maternity cover for a period of five months.
who is very comfortable with online tools and social media in particular. Graphic design skills are highly appreciated and should also be visible in the application form the candidates will submit.
Duties and responsibilities
Communications

Leading on communications activities of the WYDE Civic Engagement project and the Youth Democracy Cohort in coordination with the team of the project including on visibility at events;

Follow up on the current communications strategy and communications guidelines for the WYDE Civic Engagement project;

Supporting the communication of EPD members in the context of WYDE Civic Engagement project in cooperation with the WYDE Civic Engagement project team;
-
Supporting the organisation and logistics of events organised in the framework of WYDE Civic Engagement project;
-
Monitoring and posting on social media, feeding and updating the Youth Democracy website and conduct in depth analysis for the project programme channels;

Ensuring the visibility of the Youth Democracy Cohort through support and assistance to partner organisations (grants, cluster organisations, etc.);

Supporting the development of infographics, deliverables and other graphic design works as well as other aspects linked to the visual identity;

Developing and implementing strategic communications campaigns about specific topics if required.
General Communications

Line management of the EPD Communications and Events team;

Reviewing and updating the corporate communication of EPD;

Planning and implementing the EPD communications strategy in cooperation with Communications colleagues;

Assessing and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies and events;
-
Providing advice and supporting daily communications work of the Communications and Events team;
-
Assisting and ensuring fluent EPD internal communications to facilitate the flow of information among EPD Members, including by supporting in the coordination of the EPD communications working group;

Support for proofreading and editing papers and reports;
-
As with all members of the team, assisting with general tasks in the office and in preparing for events;

Providing other kinds of assistance as requested.
Management
-
Be the focal point between EPD Management team and the Communications and Events team;

Ensure smooth communication within Communications and Events team;
-
Create processes when needed and ensure the current ones are being followed.
Requirements
-
Professional with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the Communications and Events field as well as experience in managing a team;

Very good knowledge of online tools (websites, social media, monitoring tools) and how to use them and how to use analysis and monitoring tools (platforms we work with: WordPress, Canva, the Adobe package, hootsuite, Matomo);

Proven interest in democracy in Europe and globally either through previous research or advocacy experience (or ideally both) is an asset,

Proficiency in written English and French; English mother tongue is an asset;

Strong analytical skills and writing skills;

A cooperative attitude and strong work ethic;

Motivation to learn and contribute to EPD’s work and share our values;

Conditions and benefits

A 6 month-contract with a gross salary under Grade III of the EPD salary grid (between EUR 3000 and EUR 4500 per month) with the precise figure based on experience;

Lunch vouchers of a unit value of EUR 8,00 (personal contribution by the employee of EUR 1,09) will be granted for each day worked;

A monthly public transportation card in Brussels will be reimbursed (EUR 52);

In compliance with EPD’s teleworking policy, staff will be granted a monthly teleworking allowance of EUR 154,74 and an additional monthly contribution of EUR 20,00 for the professional use of their private internet connection;

30 days of leave per full year of work, plus 3 extra-legal days to take during the winter break (exact dates to be confirmed by the EPD Executive Director);

All staff are fully involved in all aspects of our work and given considerable responsibility and independence; this also means staff are able to choose to work four days a week if desired;

The Communications & Events coordinator should be based in Brussels. Therefore, you should be entitled to work in Belgium.
