Its members are also part of the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network, the largest sustainable healthcare network in the world, focused on the interests and needs of healthcare practitioners.
This is an important year for HCWH Europe as it develops a new organisational Strategy 2026-2030, taking forward learnings from its current strategic plan. The new Strategy will contain an important new focus on Knowledge Translation, in order to drive greater impact at scale on national and European healthcare policy and practice.
Position overview
Reporting to the Director of Communications & Knowledge Translation, the Digital Engagement Coordinator is a critical member of HCWH Europe’s Communications & Knowledge Translation team, ensuring that our messaging is consistent and engaging with key targeted audiences across all platforms. This post is initially a temporary one, covering maternity leave of the incumbent, but at a critical time of development for the organisation’s communications and knowledge translation activities.
With excellent design skills, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a wide range of digital communications platforms, including web design and development (Drupal and WordPress), social media (particularly LinkedIn), and email marketing (Mailchimp). S/he will be dynamic, extremely well organised, able to manage different demands, and work independently whilst being an excellent team player.
Key responsibilities

Working closely with the Director and rest of the Communications & Knowledge Management team, contribute to the development of HCWH Europe’s Knowledge Translation strategy; and the subsequent implementation of activities and initiatives to maximise the impact of the organisation’s outputs and expertise on EU and national healthcare policy and practice.

Working closely with the Director and rest of the Communications & Knowledge Management team, develop consistent and compelling storytelling and other content that grows and engages audiences and effectively communicates HCWH Europe’s mission.

Support the brand development of HCWH Europe and the wider HCWH organisational family and marketing activities, including innovative storytelling campaigns.

Lead on the coordination, development, and design of external communication materials (e.g., social media messaging, video and infographics, position papers, reports, and other publications) to ensure they are compelling and usable by target audiences.

Manage HCWH Europe’s website and – working closely with the Director – lead on the re-design and development of HCWH Europe’s website, including supporting the tendering and selection process, and working with any external designers and web developers.

Lead on the development and implementation of the organisation’s social media strategy, managing the organisation’s social media channels on a day-to-day basis, continually growing our reach and engagement. Oversee the social media content calendar, and review/approve posts by Communications Officers, ensuring that activities are in line with HCWH Europe’s brand and messaging, and optimised for channel effectiveness.

Maintain, update, and implement HCWH Europe’s visual identity (including Style Guide and templates for communications materials).

Support the development, reach and impact of HCWH Europe’s events (including CleanMed Europe and the European Healthcare Climate Summit) and networks.

Act as the organisation’s main point of contact for external designers and other vendors for publications and other communications materials.

Lead the development and execution of email campaigns, including the organisation’s monthly newsletter and other email marketing. Manage the organisation’s subscriber database and email platform, ensuring that quality control and data management processes (e.g. GDPR) are followed.

Participate in conferences, meetings, and events within Europe and internationally as required.

Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job.
Required qualifications and experience

A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.

University/higher education degree in a relevant field such as media, communications, marketing, web management, etc.

Demonstrable digital communication/marketing experience for a nonprofit organisation, with a strong emphasis on measurable outputs and results.

Experience managing multiple social media accounts.

Experience with web management platforms (particularly Drupal and WordPress), as well as working with external developers and designers.

Experience creating both written and visual content for social media and other web platforms, ideally with some formal qualification/training with desktop publishing and/or graphic design platforms such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Canva.

Experience or interest in environmental and health issues.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Fluent English (verbal and written) is mandatory for this role; working knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Dynamic and creative thinker with outstanding writing/editing and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for design.

Excellent IT and web management skills.

Strong multitasking abilities, managing multiple, often tight deadlines.

We award leave at the higher of 25 days per annum or the legal minimum requirement in the country of employment;

Christmas break: The office is closed between Christmas and New Year inclusive (this is an additional paid holiday);

We operate a four-day work week, where every Friday is an additional paid day off without the need for extra hours, resulting in 32 (efficient) hours of work instead of 38 hours;
