Director Assistant (Intern)

The project Director is seeking an assistant, starting 1 September 2025. In line with the objectives outlined above, you will be expected to perform a range of technical, communication, and organisational functions, including but not limited to:

  • Assist with research on issues related to the use of the gas grid to transport hydrogen.

  • Assist with advocacy: develop messages and content, create brochures, prepare slides.

  • Keep project data up to date – databases, website, LinkedIn, Teams project platform.

  • Track policy and regulatory developments relating to the use of the gas grid to deliver hydrogen in Brussels (Gas Package) and in member countries.

  • Track the “Brussels diary” and industry events that the project should be visible at.

  • Attend events in Brussels and report on content, when the Director cannot attend.

  • Monitor mainstream media for information of relevance.

  • Assist with the preparation of meetings and events, and during meetings take notes/minutes.

  • Liaise with project members, partners, and stakeholders as required.

  • Support the work of the project Director day-to-day as required.

Requirements

  • University or advanced degree in engineering or technology related to the gas industry, or international relations, or European energy policy or other related field, with a good understanding of the impact that the energy transition has on the gas business.

  • Command of spoken and written English.

  • The ability to analyse information and summarise data concisely, with an eye for detail.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills and the confidence to liaise with project members, partners, and stakeholders as required.

  • Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • A flexible, independent personality that welcomes new challenges and perspectives, can work alone for periods and enjoys work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

Learning Areas

  • During the internship period, you will develop an understanding of the challenges that the gas industry faces as well as the opportunities for it to transform to the supply of hydrogen (and other green gases), including technical, commercial, and regulatory issues.

  • You will also further develop skills related to research, analytical thinking, drafting, negotiations, event organisation, and communications and the culture of high-level, international collaboration.

  • You will also have the opportunity to improve your “softer skills” – communications, advocacy, diplomacy, relationship management, time management, patience, and how to coordinate a diverse group towards a common goal.
