Scotland House Brussels are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a EU Policy and Events intern for a period of 6-months, starting in September 2025.
Scotland House Brussels’ internship programme offers a recent graduate the opportunity to gain professional experience in Brussels, completing an 6-month internship running from the beginning of September 2025 until the end of March 2026. The intern will provide support to the Scottish Government and Scotland Europa across a range of policy, events, and administrative tasks.
The main duties and responsibilities of the intern will involve:

Assist with the organisation of our core annual programme of events, as well as supporting delivery of other events hosted in the Scotland House Conference Centre, both online and in person;

Coordinate the delivery of key policy newsletters, and support colleagues on policy and research related tasks;

Attend external meetings (online and in person) to provide reports and updates to colleagues;

Assist in organising Ministerial and senior stakeholder visits to Brussels and engagement with the EU Institutions and Brussels-based networks and partners;

Support on a range of wider administrative tasks, including managing the reception desk of Scotland House Brussels;
The intern will also have the opportunity to engage with SHB wider contacts in Brussels and Scotland, including Scotland Europa members, Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Government staff, and participate in all-staff learning and development activities. In addition to these core responsibilities, a certain degree of flexibility is inherent in the role depending on changing policy priorities, as well as the personal skills and interests of the successful candidate.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

University degree

Relevant academic/work/voluntary experience

Fluent level of English

A keen interest in EU/European policy and an understanding of the EU institutions and processes

A good knowledge of Scottish affairs and interest in promoting Scotland’s reputation internationally

A desire to work for Scotland in an EU/international context

Strong communication, interpersonal and team working skills

Good research, writing and strong IT skills including use of Microsoft Office and social media
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:
Good level of French is desirable
