We are seeking a passionate Policy Officer to join our team in Brussels and play a key role in advancing our mission to create a world where farmed animals are treated with compassion and respect.
Role Type: Full-time; Permanent
Location: EU Office, Brussels (Hybrid flexible working available, with at least 2 days in the office per week)
Salary: 50,000 – 58,000 EUROS per annum (depending on skills and experience)
About The Role
As our EU Policy Officer you will be at the heart of CIWF’s advocacy efforts in Brussels, helping to shape EU policy on animal welfare, agriculture, and food systems.
As part of this exciting role, you’ll be responsible for:

Policy Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and analyse key policy developments, track stakeholder positions, and provide valuable insights to guide strategic approaches.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in EU institutions and represent CIWF in relevant EU forums to ensure our voice is heard on legislative matters.

Coalition Building: Contribute to coalition-building efforts with like-minded organisations to amplify impact.

Policy Communication: Prepare policy briefings, position papers, and other materials to communicate priorities to internal and external audiences.

Operational Support: Support the day-to-day operations of the Brussels office.
About You
To succeed as our EU Policy Officer, you will need previous experience in EU public affairs, ideally in a policy-focused position within Brussels. You’ll need to have a solid understanding of the EU policy-making process, along with sound political acumen and the ability to track and analyse developments.
Skills and experience you’ll need to bring as our EU Policy Officer:

Relevant Experience: Previous experience in EU public affairs, ideally in a policy-focused position within Brussels.

Policy Knowledge and Analytical Skills: Solid understanding of the EU policy-making process. Strong political acumen and ability to track and analyse developments.

Organisational and Team Skills: Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively. Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Communication and Representation: Strong communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders. Ability to prepare clear, concise policy materials, and be confident in representing CIWF in various settings and contributing to discussions.

Personal Motivation and Values: Keen interest in animal welfare and commitment to making a positive impact in the sector.
