AEGEE / European Students’ Forum is one of the biggest youth organisations in all of Europe, present in over 100 cities in 35 countries. AEGEE empowers students and young people in Europe to take an active role in society. The organisation aims to create a space for dialogue and learning opportunities, as well as acts as their representative towards decision-makers.

## Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for a full-time (38 hours/week) Finance Trainee to work with us at our head office in Brussels. Working closely with the Finance Team, you will support the administration of the organisation’s financial operations, including bookkeeping, reimbursement procedures, budgeting, and financial reporting for projects and grants.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the financial management of an international NGO, particularly in the context of European-funded projects and youth programmes.

## Main tasks:

– Maintain accurate bookkeeping and financial records;
– Process invoices, payments, and reimbursements;
– Monitor organisational and project budgets and support budget planning;
– Assist with the preparation of project and grant budgets;
– Contribute to the financial reporting of projects and grants;
– Support the preparation of financial documentation required by donors and funding bodies;
– Identify relevant funding opportunities, potential donors, and corporate partnership prospects;
– Seeking new relevant funding opportunities, potential donors and corporate partnerships;
– Work with financial and administrative tools such as Conscribo, Jotform, and Microsoft Excel.

## Essential qualifications and qualities:

– Completed Higher Education in a relevant field;
– Basic knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial administration;
– Understanding of budgeting processes and financial planning;
– Familiarity with project and grant financial reporting;
– Knowledge and/or experience working with the funding schemes from the European Commission (e.g. Erasmus+ programme), the European Parliament and the Council of Europe’s European Youth Foundation;
– Excellent command of English (C1);
– Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), Google Workspace, and online collaboration tools;
– Team player and comfortable working in an international environment;
– Openness to work in a fast-paced and flexible international NGO environment;
– General knowledge of the corporate sector;
– Proactivity, ability to work independently and learning mindset;
– Knowledge of youth policy in Europe is an asset;
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an asset.

## Desirable:

– Experience with Conscribo, Jotform, or other financial management systems;
– Knowledge of French and/or Dutch;
– Experience with non-formal education;
– Fundraising skills;
– Prior engagement in youth NGOs or other NGOs at the national/European level is highly valued.

## What do we offer?

– An international, young and friendly working atmosphere
– A 6-month to one-year contract under Belgian Law (CIP, paid internship);
– Full-time, 38 hours/week;
– Monthly salary of €1050 for the first six months.
