ENNHRI is looking for a full-time Operations Trainee, based at the Permanent Secretariat in Brussels, to become a member of our team for six months, starting in the second half of January 2026. The candidate will play an important role in ENNHRI’s daily work, with a focus on ENNHRI’s Operations and Administration activities. Please note that this is not a position focused on substantive, legal or policy work.

Main duties and tasks

Membership and grants management

  • Support grant management and regranting initiatives (e.g. EU Grants)

  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation processes

  • Support knowledge management processes

Administration

  • Carry out general administrative tasks, including responding to information requests

  • Support on invoices’ processing, including collating expenses reports for reimbursements

  • Assist with the office supplies and inventory management

  • Database updates

Events organisation

  • Support in organising the logistics for ENNHRI in-person meetings and events

  • Support in organising missions for ENNHRI Staff members

  • Data collection from events

General

  • Cooperation with Secretariat colleagues and members

  • Ad-hoc administrative support to the Secretary General and Senior Staff Members

This position will support the successful candidate in developing their organisation skills for entering the workplace and give them insight into working in a network at the forefront of the European human rights field. Given the high level of competition, please orient your application based on the list of criteria below.

Essential criteria

  • Interest to develop a solid operations profile

  • Background in Administration, Management, or a related field (or currently pursuing)

  • Interest in handling and developing skills in administration and logistical preparations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to work in a Team, and also show pro-active approach

  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills

  • Excellent command of English

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience with knowledge (database) management and collaborative platforms, such SharePoint and Podio or interest to learn how such platforms function daily

  • Good analytical and planning skills

  • French or Dutch knowledge is desirable

  • Experience or interest to work in a membership organisation

  • Commitment to ENNHRI’s values

  • Experience or interest to work in a human rights and international environment

Terms of employment

This full-time traineeship will be offered for six months, starting in the second half of January 2026 (TBC). The candidate will work at ENNHRI’s Secretariat in Brussels and receive a Belgian traineeship contract (“Convention d’immersion professionnelle”), with a monthly remuneration of around €1550 and monthly reimbursement for the STIB. The vacancy requires presence at the Permanent Secretariat in Brussels.
