The Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament is looking for a full-time Policy Adviser for the ECON Committee.
This is a fixed-term contractual agent contract, function group III, until 31st December 2026, renewable until the end of the mandate.

Tasks to be performed

Advising the group’s MEPs in the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) and the subcommittee on tax matters (FISC); and take part in the preparation of parliamentary work;

Preparing MEPs for Committee meetings including draft reports, briefings, resolutions, amendments and voting lists; this includes attending to committee meetings and assuring close contact to EP secretariat;

Take part in the work of the Group concerning ECON and FISC issues; and prepare dossiers for Group meetings;

Negotiate and discuss on behalf of the Group with stakeholders and colleagues in the Parliament; co-ordination with advisors from related committees and the press service;

Assist and inform Group Members on the work in the respective Committees;

Monitor international, European and national developments in relation to the area of responsibility;

Liaise and negotiate with Commission and Council officials, preparation and follow-up of conciliation and Trialogue meetings (related to ECON);

Contribute to the Group’s political strategy, campaigning and media work in relation to economic, financial and tax policies;

Cooperation and networking with stakeholders, including NGOs in the related field.
Requirements

Very good knowledge of English and of at least one other EU language;

Very good knowledge of EU policies in the areas of responsibility;

Work experience in line with the function of at least 2 years, more years of experience are considered an asset;

Familiarity with the Green/EFA Group’s values and positions;

Very good writing skills and knowledge of organisational methodology;

Open-mindedness, communicative attitude and experience in working in a multi-cultural environment;

Excellent communication skills and being a team player;
-
Strong analytical and negotiations skills.
Assets

Previous experience related to and/or specific expertise on taxation, economic and financial affairs;

Very good knowledge of the European institutions, EU legislation and decision-making process;

Very good knowledge of public finance and international/European tax policy; good knowledge of financial regulation, tax law, taxation economics and social policies;

Politically astute and strategically minded, able to anticipate and navigate complex dynamics;

Strong and trusted network, good at fostering influence and partnerships across stakeholders;

Holistic thinker with a systems perspective, connecting the dots and integrating diverse viewpoints.
