The DAAD Brussels office is looking for an experienced Project Officer to support the implementation of the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH) and notably its ongoing work on Higher Education Interoperability (HE IO).
The DAAD leads the implementation and development of the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH) under an EU funded Framework Contract of 4 years. In this context, the DAAD Brussels Office is looking for a Project Officer (for an initial one-year contract with possible conversion into a permanent one) to contribute to our digital education community engagement work, other duties in this field and potentially new ones, as soon as possible.
Responsibilities

Project implementation (65%)
-
Take ownership of the daily management of the HE IO working group run under EDEH in close cooperation with the responsible Senior team member at a consortium partner organisation. Main tasks (not exhaustive) include:

Proactively engage with relevant consortium partners’ and subcontractor’s representatives
-
Schedule, co-chair internal meetings, draft agenda and minutes
-
Participate in regular meetings with the Contracting Authority (EACEA and European Commission (DG EAC)) jointly with the EDEH team. Present key achievements, challenges (if any) and planned HE IO activities by then
-
Contribute to core reports assembling and implement other assigned reporting routines independently

Track and review project achievements

Engage and support key stakeholders’ management, i.e. HE IO workgroup members, through the dedicated MS Teams channel and in meetings.

Engage with the contact person from the Contracting Authority on HE IO matters through regular online meetings

Plan and design (online/on-site) workshops/events targeting the Higher Education Interoperability workgroup led by DAAD. This includes drafting the agenda, preparing documents and internal briefings, preparing presentations (e.g. PPT, MS Whiteboard), information packs for registrants, etc. For logistical support, brief and collaborate with the EDEH Project Assistant.

Proactively disseminate key outputs from the HE IO workgroup on the Hub and beyond

Write short articles, one-pagers and reports to be published on EDEH and the European Education Area (EEA)-Portal, on HE IO and other themes as need be.

Gradually take ownership of other EDEH task(s) in agreement with the Head of Unit for EU projects and the EDEH Project manager.

Business development (35%)
-
Keep abreast of latest developments in digital education policy at the EU level, with focus on the Digital Education Action Plan and related future 2030 strategy, the European Universities initiative and HE IO topical area.

Represent DAAD and the EDEH project at external events as relevant

Contribute to proposal drafting and monitoring & evaluation tasks at DAAD Brussels office

Report to the Head of Unit for EU projects

Necessary qualifications, prior experience, and skills
-
A graduate degree in political science, social sciences, education or another field of relevance to the position.

Prior work experience in digital education and/or the higher education sector (e.g. at a higher education institution; an umbrella organisation representing higher education institutions in Europe; a public or private organisation working with/for universities or European University Alliance(s))

Very good project and stakeholder management skills
-
Strong drafting and coordination skills
-
Experience with drafting proposals for EU funded projects/tenders
-
Experience with communication and public relations work, including experience with organising events (online/on-site meetings, workshops) for international audiences.

Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

Excellent speaking, writing, and editing skills in English; German and French/Dutch language skills are considered advantageous.
What we offer

The salary for this position will range between 4.564€ gross/month and 4.966€ gross/month depending on experience. The successful candidate will be employed with a local (Belgian) contract.
