About ReNew2030

ReNew2030 is a global coalition of regional climate foundations and transnational organisations – hosted by the ECF – that fund a diverse group of implementation partners across the globe. ReNew2030’s goal is to scale global wind and solar capacity 5x by 2030 to keep the world on track for 1.5°C of warming, while improving energy security, creating new jobs and delivering health, climate and economic benefits.

About the role

This role sits within the ReNew2030 team, which is working to accelerate the global transition to wind and solar energy, along enhancing grid and storage solutions, to achieve near-term climate objectives for 2030. The Senior Communications Associate will play a central role in shaping and amplifying the narrative of this work- highlighting its benefits, and engaging global audiences through clear, strategic, and context-sensitive communications.

The role involves close collaboration with regional climate foundations and transnational implementation partners around the world. Strong teamwork, cross-cultural awareness, and an understanding of the electricity sector – especially the scaling of renewable energy in diverse economic contexts – are essential. We are seeking a proactive and collaborative communicator with experience in the climate and energy field, who can bring clarity, creativity, and consistency to the way we tell the story of this ambitious, partner-driven initiative.

Key responsibilities

The Senior Communications Associate will be responsible for:

  • Communications strategy development, planning and implementation: Contributing to the development of ReNew2030 communication plan and materials to advance the project’s objectives.

  • Production of annual reports – internal and external: Development of high-quality reports for ReNew2030, including conceptualising structure, gathering relevant inputs, drafting content, and ensuring timely delivery to relevant stakeholders.

  • Strengthening the quality and consistency of content and impact storytelling – in collaboration with RN2030 implementation partners: Collaborate with implementation partners to co-develop compelling case studies and stories that showcase the success and impact of RN2030 projects. Ensure stories are context-specific, culturally sensitive, and aligned with ReNew2030’s values and messaging. Develop storytelling guidelines and templates to support partners in producing high-quality, consistent content. Curate strong visual and narrative content from partners for use across ReNew2030 channels and publications. Track and balance representation of partner contributions in external communications. Promote shared ownership and visibility by crediting partner contributions appropriately in published materials.

  • Content development and management: Create engaging and visually compelling content – including presentations, infographics – for diverse audiences. Conduct research and develop publications, briefs, and knowledge products on climate and renewable energy. Monitor national, regional and global developments in climate and energy policy to inform content and messaging. Manage and update ReNew2030 website to ensure content is current, accessible, and strategically aligned. Establish processes and tools/systems to improve and professionalise the way ReNew2030 creates and shares content. Maintain a central content library and manage knowledge assets for internal and external use.

  • Management of social media presence and digital engagement: Develop and implement content calendar across social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn) aligned with the programme priorities. Craft engaging, context-sensitive posts that reflect the programme’s voice and values. Monitor and manage day-to-day activity on social channels, including responding to engagement where appropriate. Track and analyse performance metrics to optimise reach and engagement. Stay up to date on platform trends and recommend innovations to improve digital presence.

Requirements

Experience and competencies:

  • A graduate degree or equivalent and at least 6 years of working experience in energy and climate-related fields – with strong familiarity with the electricity sector.

  • Knowledge and understanding of climate and energy topics, especially the electricity sector.

  • Political acumen, including an understanding of how to collaborate with international partners to effect change, is important.

  • Strong political and cultural awareness, with ability to navigate sensitive issues thoughtfully and appropriately.

  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to communicate across diverse cultural and geographic contexts.

  • Sound judgement and the ability to translate complex or nuanced issues into accessible and strategic messaging.

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner – including narrative, report, and bulletin styles as well as a good understanding of using social media for impact.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of the team.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Microsoft office skills.

  • This position offers the opportunity to engage with our regional teams, and may require occasional travel.
