**Location:** Flexible – Join us at PBI’s International Office in Brussels, or work remotely.

**Conditions:** Fixed-term contract (until end of 2026, renewable), full-time (40hrs/week) or part-time as job-share (20hrs/week), Monthly salary range 2.825 € – 3.042 € or pro-rata equivalent plus meal vouchers (and travel allowance, if deployed in Brussels).

**Please note:** For remote positions, the salary may be adjusted according to regional pay scales.

Peace Brigades International (PBI) protects and supports human rights and environmental defenders to advocate and secure change for their communities and our planet. Our unique model combines 45 years of locally rooted presence across multiple regions, with access to an extensive international network, delivering vital support. We believe that lasting transformation for (climate) justice cannot come from the outside but must be based on the capacity and strategies of the defenders. Our model is based on holistic protection in order to amplify and sustain the impact of their work. We contribute to a strong civil society infrastructure by accompanying their struggles, building and sharing the tools, tactics and networks necessary to prevent threats, reduce risk, and influence decision-makers. This position will have a strong emphasis on our global communications, combined with a specific focus on our work in Mexico, and reports to the senior management.

## Key responsibilities

– Act as the focal point for the organisation’s external communication and messaging
– Coordinate joint efforts across the organisation to implement strategic activities
– Convene monthly meetings for communication staff from our local teams to foster collaboration across the organisation, and guide communications team in Mexico
– Lead development and dissemination plans for campaigns and key publications such as annual reports, newsletters and similar
– Craft engaging narratives and produce on- and offline content that effectively showcases our work (e.g. Drupal website, social media, pitches and similar)
– Support other communications related activities as needed, especially serving as a focal point for our development and advocacy department

## Qualifications and Attributes

– Commitment to our core values and mandate
– Passionate about working at the intersection of human rights, environment, climate justice, and activism
– Good understanding of human rights and environmental rights, ideally with work experiences in Mexico or other countries we focus on
– University degree in relevant subject or equivalent work experience
– Ability to craft simple, compelling messages out of complex issues
– Excellent written and oral communication in Spanish and English
– A commitment to effectively coordinating and engaging a diverse team
– Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
– Appreciates diversity and thrives in a global, decentralised and multilingual team environment
– Proactive and self-motivated, with a positive and can-do attitude
– Creative and collaborative mindset, along with self-assurance and high attention to detail
