**The CPMR General Secretariat is seeking a Trainee on EU Energy Policy & Projects.**
The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) is a European association representing around 120 regions from 27 countries across Europe and beyond. We work to shape EU policies that impact regions, particularly in the areas of Transport, Energy, Cohesion, and Maritime affairs. The CPMR is a unique organization, subdivided into 6 geographical commissions corresponding to Europe’s main maritime basins: the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, the Atlantic Arc, the Mediterranean, the Balkans and the Black Sea, and the Islands. Joining the CPMR will give you the opportunity to work in a dynamic international environment and contribute shaping European policies to foster regional development and regional energy transitions.

This internship is designed as a long-term opportunity. Pending performance, legal conditions and financial availability, the initial 6-month period may lead to a 6-month renewal and/or a Brussels-based Contrat Insertion Professionnelle (CIP).
## **1. Short job description**
The CPMR Energy Working Group (EWG) brings together Europe’s peripheral and maritime regions to strengthen their voice in the clean energy transition. Established in 2023, it serves as a platform for interregional cooperation, policy advocacy, and exchange of best practices on key EU energy priorities such as hydrogen, offshore renewables, electrification, and green industrial transformation. Through its meetings, policy papers, and participation in EU initiatives, the EWG ensures that regional perspectives are reflected in the design and implementation of the EU Green and Clean Industrial Deals. Its work combines analytical research with hands-on coordination (e.g., organising thematic events, producing technical notes and policy positions, and contributing to EU cooperation projects on energy).
## **2. Key Tasks**
Under the supervision of the CPMR Head of Energy, the intern will contribute (in line with the sector of activity) to the main key tasks:
– **Monitoring policy developments** on energy and related policy areas with relevance for the work of the CPMR General Secretariat, the activities of the CPMR Energy Working Group, and the interests of its Members.
– **Supporting the daily activities of the energy team** notably, contributing to:
– attending and reporting on external meetings, conferences, and policy sessions (e.g., European Parliament – ITRE Committee, European Committee of the Regions);
– drafting/editing technical and policy documents;
– support the organization of meetings (e.g. statutory session, working groups, thematic seminars, workshops);
– other support activities (e.g., mailing and phone communication with CPMR Members and stakeholders, note- and minute-taking, translations).
– **Developing internal and external communication activities**, including preparing relevant articles and newsletters, promoting activities on social media, contributing to the design of slides presentations, infographics and brochures in cooperation with the CPMR General Secretariat.
– **Assisting the team in its work on EU-funded cooperation projects** on energy (e.g., following project meetings, reporting from work packages’ activities).
## **3. Ideal candidate profile**
### **3.1. Minimum requirement:**
– **University degree in a relevant field** (International Relations, European Affairs, Law, Political Science, Energy, Climate, and Sustainability, and related fields)
– Excellent knowledge of **English** (C1)
– Strong interest in EU, energy, and regional policies;
– Organisational and interpersonal skills
– Communication skills and ability to manage relations with stakeholders

– Whether your **experience in energy** comes from academic research, EU projects, policy analysis, or strong interest, any familiarity with the field will be an asset and will help you contribute effectively to CPMR’s activities.
