The European Emergency Number Association (EENA) is dedicated to improving public safety and emergency response across Europe. EENA facilitates collaboration between emergency services, technology providers, and policymakers to advance the effectiveness of emergency communication systems and promote best practices in the field. Their work aims to ensure citizens receive timely and appropriate assistance during critical situations.

EENA, the European Emergency Number Association, is looking for an energetic and dedicated Advocacy Officer to join our team. The Advocacy Officer will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to enhance public safety across Europe. The successful candidate will help shape and implement EENA's advocacy strategy on key EU legislation affecting emergency communications.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the definition of EENA's advocacy strategy on relevant EU legislation affecting emergency communications.
  • Drive the implementation of EENA's advocacy strategy on relevant EU legislation, including the Digital Networks Act.
  • Monitor and evaluate EU policy developments and trends relevant to EENA's mission.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including EU institutions, national authorities, and partner organisations.
  • Participate in policy-related events, workshops, and conferences.
  • Develop and draft policy recommendations, position papers, and reports.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on public safety policies, emergency services, and related EU legislation.
  • Prepare briefings, presentations, and other communication materials to disseminate research findings and policy positions, including in EU Projects.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure alignment of messages with EENA's overall strategy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in additional EU languages is a plus.
  • Excellent social skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex information.
  • Solid understanding of the EU policy-making process; knowledge of telecoms is a plus.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to our mission of improving public safety.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute within the organisation.

Qualifications

  • A degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional experience in EU affairs, policy or advocacy; applications from highly motivated candidates at an early stage of their careers who demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop are also welcome.
