Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the biggest international student network in Europe, with over 500 local organisations (“Sections”) active in Higher Education Institutions in 46 countries. ESN has been supporting student mobility since 1989 and has its international headquarters in Brussels.
ESN is currently involved in several international projects, many of which involve extensive communication, research, policy/advocacy, and community engagement. ESN also organises many campaigns throughout the year and events that require coverage on social media and media attention through press releases.
The international headquarters in Brussels is therefore looking for a Communications Assistant to start on the 1st of September 2025 (the exact starting date is up for discussion), working for 80% or 4 days per week.
Job description

Assist in implementing communication tasks within international EU-funded projects;

Assist in the planning and execution of communication campaigns across multiple platforms.

Create and curate engaging content (written, visual, audio-visual) for social media, newsletters, and ESN’s website;

Support the preparation of press releases, articles, and updates for both internal and external audiences;

Help monitor ESN’s presence in the media and assist with reporting and evaluation of communication activities;

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure coherent and effective branding and messaging;

Contribute to event communications (live coverage, interviews, photo/video documentation);

Take part in regular team activities and contribute to office-wide responsibilities.
Qualifications and requirements

A recent graduate or early-career professional (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, European Studies, or related field);

Some experience in communications, social media management, or content creation (internships and volunteering experience count);

Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and LinkedIn;

Strong writing and editing skills in English;

Basic knowledge of design or video tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe, CapCut, etc.) is a plus;

Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a multicultural team;

Organised, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks;

Willingness to travel occasionally and work flexible hours (including weekends during major events).
Highly valued

Knowledge of the European-level education policy (in particular, the Erasmus+ programme);

Knowledge of ESN;

Experience with writing grant applications and reports;

Familiar with graphic design and video creation;

Experience in working with volunteers.
Terms and conditions

Part-Time position (4 days per week);

One-year contract;

Salary of 1850 EUR gross per month, plus a 13th and 14th month;

Meal vouchers of 8 EUR per day;
