The Caritas Europa Secretariat based in Brussels is offering a full-time permanent position to support the work of the Units for Institutional Development and Humanitarian Response as well as for Finance and Internal Services.

## Mission
The post holder supports different aspects of internal coordination and funding: Annual Work Plan (AWP) development and reporting as well as the related MEAL (monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability) process as well as diversification of funding with existing and new donors.
The post holder ensures the optimal internal coordination and project management of the EU funded operating grant. S/he also searches EU and other funding opportunities for the Caritas Europa secretariat as well as for the network and supports in the drafting of funding applications.
The post holder supports Caritas Europa (CE) member organisations’ capacity strengthening in the field of private fundraising and institutional funding (EU funding and others).
S/he contributes to the best implementation of the CE Strategic Framework and more specifically of the Strategic Orientation “Professional competencies and sustainable funding”. S/he is mainly responsible for ensuring optimal results in the implementation of the outcomes contributing to the Strategic Objective 4.2: The Caritas Europa network is financially sustainable.
## Key tasks
### IDHR Unit
– Searches for EU funding opportunities for the CE-S and the network: Proactively informs the CE-S and the network about funding opportunities of interest that arise in the EU institutions, other institutional donors or foundations (in line with the ethical charter);
– Supports CE-S and the network in fostering a constructive operational and financial environment for civil society organisations and social service providers: Contributes to advocacy activities to ensure accessible EU funding programmes, also in cooperation with other networks;
– Strengthens member organisations capacities in terms of EU domestic and international funding and private fundraising: Facilitates networking and partnerships in the network where required for responding to above calls for proposals; organises and helps run EU funding workshops;
– Emerging priorities: Supports respective IDHR colleagues or take the lead in organising and coordinating capacity strengthening activities on emerging needs of the network, such as women leadership, diversity and inclusion.
### F & IS Unit
– AWP coordination and MEAL: Coordinates the drafting and the reporting process of the AWP and the related MEAL system and ensures the implementation of the latter in close cooperation with the CE team;
– Operating grant coordination: Coordinates internally the EU funded operating grant with responsibility for planning, follow up of the implementation and reporting; giving support in terms of compliance with EU requirements to the Units, relationship with the European Commission’s Unit managing this grant. This work will be done in cooperation with the Budget and Compliance Officer of the CE-S;
– Funding applications for the CE-S: Drafts project proposals for funding opportunities from the EU, foundations or other donors;
– CE-S dialogue with foundations and private donors: Supports the F & ISD and the SG in establishing and sustaining dialogue with foundations and private donors to explore funding opportunities;
– Fundraising for the CE-S: Keeps donor database updated, with responsibility for thank you process and for donor acquisition and retention.
## Profile
– University education and/or equivalent relevant experience, preferably in a field relevant to the function;
– Proven work experience in a similar role (min 3 years);
– Experience related to securing institutional (e.g. EU) and private (e.g. foundations) funding for projects;
– Strong analytical, reporting and MEAL skills;
– Knowledge and application of Project Cycle Management;
– Experience and skills in networking and relations with donors, faith-based and civil society partners;
– Experience of successfully operating in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds;
– Strong work ethics and integrity, able to handle confidential information and respect data protection;
– Strong ability to work in a team and with partners using effective interpersonal and communication, diplomatic and active listening skills;
– Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented;
– Very organised, compliant and detailed, while working under pressure and respecting deadlines;
– Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching (CST) and understanding of “accompaniment”;
– Excellent spoken and written English. Good command of any other European language is an asset;
– Ready to travel regularly and to work flexible hours when needed;
– Moderation/facilitation skills;
– Knowledge of IT;
– Creativity, innovation and flexibility.
## Offer and conditions
We offer a full-time permanent Belgian employment contract in line with our salary scheme (starting from 3,630 € for 3 years of experience and following the grid of the Centre Interdiocésain asbl) and with extra-legal benefits (holiday pay and “13th month”, hospitalisation and pension insurance, lunch vouchers, contribution to public transport, flexible work arrangements in line with our employment regulations and extra-legal holidays).
