Organisation: European Agroforestry Federation (EURAF)
Location: Brussels, Belgium (Office-based)
Contract Type: Fixed-term employment contract (_Contrat de travail à durée déterminée – C.D.D._), with possibility of extension
Reporting to: Secretary-General of EURAF
Application deadline: August 10th (Applications reviewed on an ongoing basis)
About EURAF
EURAF aims to promote the adoption of agroforestry (the integration of woody vegetation, crops and/or livestock in the same area of land) practices across Europe by supporting efforts to develop awareness, education, research, policy making and investments which foster the use of trees on farms. EURAF has a network of 28 Affiliated Entities in 22 EU countries and 4 outside the EU. Our Mission is to “ensure that there is at least 10% tree crown cover on grassland and cropland in all European regions by 2040”.
We work at the heart of Brussels, collaborating closely with European institutions, policymakers, and grassroots stakeholders to shape the future of sustainable farming.
Position Overview
Are you an organised, motivated and detail-oriented professional looking to launch or advance your career in the EU non-profit sector around sustainability, environmental and climate issues? EURAF is seeking an energetic Project & Advocacy Manager to join our team.
This ‘mid-level’ role is the perfect hybrid for someone who enjoys both the strategic management of a project and the possibility to contribute to the growth of an umbrella organisation like EURAF. You will contribute to our team’s work as the organisational backbone —ensuring keeping track of project deliverables and milestones, financial reports and administrative workflows run flawlessly—while actively supporting the community-building and communication efforts that fuel our impact. The core of the activities will likely revolve around two running projects, with most of the effort spent on the Agroecology Partnership project ‘EELAP’ which EURAF coordinates.
Key Responsibilities
_(Activities may be tailored to fit the selected candidate’s specific profile and strengths)._
Project Administration & Financial Reporting
- Timeline & Milestones: Track project timelines, monitor key milestones, and coordinate with international project partners to ensure deliverables are met seamlessly.
- Financial & Progress Stewardship: Maintain meticulously organised documentation and prepare essential progress and financial reports (experience with Horizon Europe or similar frameworks is a massive plus).
- Operational Support: Handle the daily bureaucratic and administrative workflows that keep our EU-funded projects compliant and running smoothly.
Advocacy Coordination
- Maximise impact: Ensure that the project’s outputs reach the wider EURAF community and beyond, in view of increasing awareness and improve the visibility for agroforestry at EU level;
- Build capacity: Support outreach efforts towards new national agroforestry associations and potential members; liaise with national EURAF delegates as well as representatives of associated and corporate members.
- Representation: Participate in meetings with EU stakeholders and raise awareness about the efforts of EURAF across the EU;
Fundraising
- Proposal development and continuity: Ensure that the activities carried out in projects can be continued in future project proposals;
- Strengthen ties with private donors: Help identify and research new funding opportunities, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic grants that align with EURAF’s long-term vision beyond the current project cycle.
Qualifications & Profile
Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in natural, agricultural/forestry or environmental sciences, Business Administration, Project Management, European Studies, or a related field. Candidates with a background in other fields who demonstrate exceptional organisational skills are also highly encouraged to apply.
- Organisational skills: Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Mindset: Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative international team.
- Languages & Communication: Excellent written and spoken English with strong interpersonal skills. Other EU languages may be a plus.
Desirable (Optional):
- A genuine passion for agroforestry and nature-based climate solutions.
- Prior exposure to or experience with EU-funded projects (Horizon Europe, Interreg, Erasmus+, etc.).
What We Offer
- Potential for professional growth: A meaningful, purpose-driven role within a dynamic team and a wider European network of around 800 agroforestry enthusiasts.
- Collaborative environment: Hands-on experience in EU project management, financial administration, and non-profit operations.
- Building a network in the heart of the EU: Invaluable professional development and networking opportunities in Brussels.
- Green working environment: EURAF’s office is located in Mundo Matonge, surrounded by lots of like-minded organisations active in the area of environmental, social and economic sustainability. Work may be organised flexibly (office presence and work from home in Brussels).
- Remuneration: An attractive package, which includes reimbursement of public transportation costs, work from home allowance, etc.
