We are looking for an experienced VIDEOGRAPHER to support the work of S&D Group secretariat in the Press and Communication Department.
Duties include, under the supervision of the Head of Unit and Head of Department:
- Proposing, producing and creating innovative content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin.
- Proposing, producing and creating longer formats for Youtube and the S&D website.
- Producing video coverage for events including filming and editing and immediate delivery.
- Liaising with Press Officers and Social Media teams for development and distribution of new video formats.
- Synthesising/producing recordings of plenary speeches and other video/audio files.
- Under supervision of the Head of Unit and responsible Press Officer, liaising with relevant S&D Group elected members (MEPs) in the execution of audio-visual initiatives.
- Proposing audio-visual initiatives to the Head of Unit and Head of Department.
- Responsible for all aspects of audio-visual production, including camera operation and editing, writing and directing.
- Translating policies and messages into impactful video content for Social Media.
- Daily management of and uploading content on the S&D Youtube Channel.
- Daily management of financial and administrative matters for audio-visual activities.
- Liaison and managing cooperation with external service providers.
- Mentoring of trainees as required from time to time.
Proven professional experience in the following fields:
- Developing new video formats, following and being up-to date with latest trends on social media and new platforms, as well as experience in film, news, journalism, photography, social media and/or other visual communications, in a multicultural environment.
- Strong communication skills, with a general overview of the audiovisual landscape and with a hands-on experience as an audiovisual storyteller/videographer.
- Technical aspects of audio-visual recording, editing, post-production and distribution. Editing sound and image with professional traditional equipment (cameras, computers, etc) as well as with smartphones and relevant apps.
- Content production in audiovisual communication: messaging, scripting, storytelling, targeting to different audiences through social media.
- Technical knowledge of camera work, focused mainly on use of DSLR type of Videography.
- Technical knowledge of lighting for interviews and/or for simple scenography.
- Technical knowledge of editing in non-linear editing programmes such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Davinci Resolve and/or Avid Media Composer.
- Creating and editing digital assets including videos, photos, visuals, motion graphics, animations, infographics, presentations, social media assets and/or other digital content.
- Ensuring the usability and accessibility of visual and digital assets and content in compliance with recognised standards (in particular for the web).
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and work to short deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of EU Institutions and European policies is an asset.
Requirements
- Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union.
- Enjoy full rights as a citizen.
- A level of post-secondary education attested by an officially recognised diploma showing completion of studies in the field described followed by a minimum of two years’ professional experience as videographer.
Languages
- For functional reasons, proficiency in English (C1 level minimum).
- Satisfactory knowledge of either French, German or Spanish is an asset (B2 level).
- Knowledge of other official languages of the European Union will be taken into consideration.
The S&D Group insists, in particular, on the fact that this position requires availability and flexibility, a methodical approach, discretion and a capacity for rapid adaptation to variable workloads. Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative, both independently and as part of a team and adapt to a multicultural environment. Frequent travel outside Belgium may be required, especially to Strasbourg during the parliamentary sessions.
Duration of the contract: 1 year (9 months’ probation period) starting, from January 2027. Renewable.
