European Schoolnet is seeking a versatile and creative Communications and Editorial Officer to join our dynamic Digital and Citizenship department. The position will involve supporting and promoting the communication activities of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) platform contract, which EUN implements on behalf of the European Commission. This position offers a great opportunity to work in an international environment, liaising with colleagues and partners across Europe.
The [Better Internet for Kids platform](https://better-internet-for-kids.europa.eu/en) is a European initiative funded by the European Commission that aims to create a safer and more enriching digital environment for children and young people. The project is part of the European Strategy for a Better Internet for Kids (BIK+) and implements key actions such as awareness-raising (including pan-European campaigns and events), online safety measures, promoting high-quality educational content, and encouraging youth participation in decision-making processes, alongside coordinating a network of Safer Internet Centres across Europe.
## Main tasks
The successful candidate will support and implement the project’s communications activities, reporting to the web communications specialist and the project manager, as follows:
– Writing, editing, and customising high-quality content for different audiences, using different channels (e.g., website, newsletters, social media, publications, press releases, and other marketing material that communicate the project’s objectives and activities).
– Contributing to the creation, dissemination and delivery of BIK publications, campaigns (including Safer Internet Day and thematic campaigns), and events (including the annual Safer Internet Forum).
– Updating and maintaining the BIK platform (including a public portal and closed community), project social media profiles (across a range of platforms), and newsletter services.
– Maintaining platform integrity , including applying house style and editorial standards, and maintaining team workflow management tools. Knowledge of accessibility principles in content development is an asset.
– Media monitoring and analysis of analytics , to report back on the progress and impact of communications and activities.
– Proofreading and quality check ing to ensure all external communications outputs are in line with the narrative and visual identity of the project.
– Assisting the BIK communication team on the implementation of the communication strategy, in collaboration with other colleagues.
– Supporting other aspects of the delivery of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) platform contract as needed.
## Profile and skills
The ideal candidate should have:
– Preferably a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (like communication studies, media or journalism, etc.).
– An excellent command of English, both spoken and written . Additional languages are an asset.
– Proven experience of social media communication (including organic and paid promotion), SEO, and optimisation of content, in both written and visual forms.
– Experience in engaging diverse stakeholder communities through targeted content and activities.
– A proactive team player with the ability to work independently, under pressure, and to tight deadlines .
– Excellent writing and editing skills , with strong attention to detail .
– Creative, with initiative and ability to identify ways to improve communication efforts, using compelling storytelling and online marketing skills.
– Familiarity with multi-channel communication (web, blogs, newsletters, social media, publications) and digital tools (i.e. web content management systems, Canva, video editing, office tools).
