BETTER FINANCE is looking for a **Finance and Administration Officer** to join the team in Brussels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organisation’s financial management (under the supervision of the Managing Director), including oversight of the budgets and compliance aspects of the EU grants that the organisation receives. In addition, the Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for member relations and organising the General Assemblies and Board Meetings (with support from the Communications Team), and will also support the organisation’s fundraising efforts.

The successful candidate will be required to cooperate closely with the other members of the team and may also have the opportunity to contribute to BETTER FINANCE research and advocacy work, depending on their interest and qualifications.

## Main Duties and Responsibilities

– Management of the internal finances and administration of the organisation. This may include ensuring payments and the processing and reconciliation of invoices (with the help of an external accountant), updating the internal budget when needed and presenting it to the Managing Director and Board of Directors, and liaising with the external Secretariat Social (payroll provider) on HR administration matters when required.
– Responsible for the application, reporting and follow-up of BETTER FINANCE annual grant programme from the European Union.
– Organising BETTER FINANCE’s Board Meeting and General Assemblies as well as Committees set up by the Board or General Assembly, including preparing the necessary meeting documents (with the help of team members where relevant),
– Communication with BETTER FINANCE’s member organisations, in particular in relation to the statutory meetings
– When needed, representing BETTER FINANCE at external meetings or conferences
– Supporting with other forms of fundraising (donations, partnerships etc).

The Finance and Administration Officer will report to the Managing Director.

## Profile/ Main Qualifications

We are looking forward to welcoming an enthusiastic team player willing to take the initiative within the portfolio of assigned tasks. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

### Required (minimum) qualifications:

– Minimum two years of relevant experience in relevant functions
– Experience with financial management, preferably in a Belgian context
– Experience working with EU grants
– Fluency (at least C1) in English, both written and verbal
– At least a basic understanding of either French or Dutch (at least A2)
– Be committed to BETTER FINANCE’s mission
– Team player and detail-oriented, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

### Preferred (additional) skills:

– Knowledge of at least the basics of investment and finance
– Knowledge of the general functioning of the EU institutions and their legislative process.
– A successful track record in fundraising
– Experience in a member-based NGO
– Relevant experience of more than 5 years would be considered an asset.
– Good IT knowledge, particularly with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.

We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and responsibilities

The ideal start date would be in **early July**. The successful candidate will be offered a full-time, **indefinite-term contract (CDI)**.
