About the role
The Audience Insights Lead is part of the CECC team and reports to the Citizens’ Engagement Director. The candidate plays a key role in making the work of ECF and its partners more evidence-based, data-driven and high impact. This requires working with a diverse network of communication professionals, supporting them to deploy best-in-class audience research analysis and insights’ identification and partnering with experts in the field to share learnings and best practices.
This is an exciting opportunity to deepen a data-driven approach to public engagement strategies and experiment with diverse and innovative tools, in a rich ecosystem of communications’ experts with diverse sets of expertise and a multicultural component.
As Audience Insights Lead, you will be responsible in particular for:

Leading cross-cutting audience research projects of the ECF to influence strategic-thinking, evaluate impact and inform the work of the whole network:

Advising, designing and managing mix-method audience and messaging research (polling, focus group, message testing, social media listening, audience segmentation…)

Contracting and managing third-party commercial and non-profit research and data providers

Supporting the CECC directors to report on the work of the portfolio

Advising country and sector teams on their specific audience research needs and approach:

Coordinating a community of practice of colleagues in charge of audience research in their respective teams

Monitoring and networking with key audience research partners

Keeping track of existing research commissioned by ECF and its partners to avoid duplication and promote comparative approaches

Building the capacity of colleagues with trainings on data and insights’ applications and data queries assistance when necessary

Supporting ECF in articulating and updating its pan-European vision and strategy:

Staying on top of emerging trends and collaborating with audience insights practitioners and experts in the broader community

Producing content (presentations, op-eds, webinars…) socializing audience insights’ analysis and their uses in activations

Identifying new topics and approaches for ECF and its partners to test

Requirements
Experience and Competencies
-
At least 8 years of professional experience, demonstrating clear strategic understanding of the relationship between public opinion, campaigns/communications, and political change

Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional projects or teams, with the ability to inspire, guide, and influence colleagues and partners across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds

Experience managing audience insights and applying diverse research methodologies
-
Excellent analytical capabilities combined with a keen grasp of strategic storytelling and communications, including strong data visualisation and presentation skills

Collaboration skills, diplomacy and influencing skills with the ability to operate in a networked organisation and facilitate effective alignment and action among a diverse group of colleagues and partners

Impact mindset: positive, can-do attitude and flexible, learning mindset and autonomous approach to work allowing you to thrive in a fast-paced work environment working across phone/video conferencing with colleagues all over Europe
While experience in the climate sector is not required, a general understanding of major debates and issues in the climate and energy space, as well as a genuine will to help find innovative solutions to the climate crisis are needed.
